In the olden times, India became self-sufficient in food grains after the green revolution and now we are exporting food grains too. However, more commitment and integrity is required to witness steady progress. We have step up despite our limitations. Let’s pledge on this 75th Independence Day celebration that we will build prosperous nation, he averred.

He also called upon to strengthen the education sector still further.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor B. P. Veerabhadrappa stressed the need to remember local heroes of freedom struggle such as Sangolli Rayanna, and Rani Abbakka among others along with national heroes. We will hold series of programmes this year to commemorate 75th Independence Day celebration, he informed.
Defence veterans who have served services for more than 15 years were felicitated during the occasion. Soldiers, Naik B Veeraswamy, Naik Rajashekar, Naik Dayanand M, Naik Shivananda Murthy, and Devasagayam were honoured. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the essay competition held as part of Independence Day celebration on the occasion.
