Mangaluru: A one-day International workshop titled ‘Effective Research: Proposals, Investigations and Publications’ kick started at St. Josephs Engineering College, Mangalore on August 11.
The workshop commenced by invoking the almighty’s blessings by a prayer song and lighting the lamp. Dr Subramaniam Arunachalam, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of East London, U.K with whose association the workshop is being conducted was the chief guest on the occasion.
The dignitaries present on stage included Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director-SJEC, Rev Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assitant Director-SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal-SJEC, Dr Sudheer M, HOD-Mechanical Engineering, SJEC, and Dr Binu K G, Associate Professor Mechanical Engineering, SJEC.
Dr Sudheer M in his welcome address gave a briefing about the workshop which will be cover various aspects related to carrying out high quality research, publishing research findings in high impact journals, preparation of research proposals, and evaluation of PhD thesis. The workshop is intended to benefit the high number of young faculty, research scholars and PG students to perform high quality research. It will also create an awareness among local students and researchers about expectations and demands of foreign evaluator of PhD thesis and high impact factor journal publications.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Subramaniam Arunachalam said that since they would get plenty of time to discuss a lot of things throughout the day he would keep his speech short. He said that academic research is an essential skill to excel in academia and research is a fundamental requirement for the growth of the institution.
In his presidential address Rev Fr Wilfred mentioned a small story on how knowledge can bring personal growth and even growth in our work environment.
Dr Binu, the convener of the workshop gave the vote of thanks.
