Mangaluru: Introducing for the very first time, in our country, a conference integrating physiotherapy with simulation.  PHYSIOSIMCON- 2022 “An innovative approach to enhance skills in critical care physiotherapy” will offer an interactive and hands-on experience for the advancement of knowledge and skills in Critical Care Physiotherapy using simulation based learning.

This event will be conducted on August 2 and 3, 2022 at Decennial Memorial Hall, Father Muller Medical College, Father Muller Road, Kankanady, Mangalore, Karnataka, India. This event is being organized by the Department of Physiotherapy, Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) in association with Father Muller Simulation and Skill Centre (FMSSC). FMSSC is the first centre in Mangalore to be accredited by the American Heart Association as an authorized training centre for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & Emergency Cardiovascular Care courses. It is a state of the art, multi-professional training facility equipped with the most advanced medical simulators and skill trainers.

It is being organized under the patronage of Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Rev. FrAjith B. Menezes, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College and Dr Antony Sylvan Dsouza, Dean, Father Muller Medical College with Organizing Chairpersons as Prof. CherishmaD’silva, Professor & Head, Department of Physiotherapy and Dr Lulu SherifMahmood, Professor & Head of Healthcare Simulation Education, Father Muller Simulation and Skill Centre.

We are expecting Physiotherapy Faculty, Postgraduates, Interns & Undergraduates (third and fourth years), Healthcare professionals & students from other disciplines interested in critical care physiotherapy from all over the country to attend this conference.

A renowned faculty from University of Southampton, United Kingdom, Dr. Debbie Thackray will be delivering the keynote. This will be followed by sessions introducing the workshop topics addressed by resource persons from various disciplines. Hands on workshops will be conducted on the topics ‘Airway Management and Early Mobilization’,‘Basics of Mechanical Ventilation’, ‘Monitoring in Intensive Care’ and ‘Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation’. Additional conference talk will include ‘Back on Track post COVID-19’. Live simulation drill on exposure to critical events in intensive care unit will be one of the high points of this conference.

Delegates can also participate in an intriguing Quiz Competition on Critical Care Physiotherapy and Simulation. Attractive cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.
