Bengaluru: Big Heart NGO launched an android application to connect blood donors to the people who require blood. Freedom fighter H S Doreswamy formally launched the application on August 27.

Big Heart aims to eliminate scarcity of blood in the entire nation. People can request for blood by using the android application or website or contact the helpline number of their partner Sankalp India.

Big Heart is a registered not-for-profit organization intended at serving ‘all slabs’ of society. Started by a bunch of youngsters, who share a strong will to better the society. Big Heart wants to pave a way for all those who want to experience the joy of serving. Started purely to engage working individuals and college students to address the issues of society, in less than a year, they have grown to a team of 35 coming from varied backgrounds.

Big Heart was started in May 2015 with a pilot project of helping people who need blood. They have a full-fledged blood portal for donors and recipients. Also from time to time, they visit charitable homes and orphanages to spend time with the kids conducting recreational activities, during which they provide few necessities such as rice, plates, snacks, etc. Such initiative gives all their volunteers immense joy, watching kids learn, smile and have fun. Education being their pioneer concern, their own charitable initiative called ‘Sapno Ke Liye Siksha’ caters to the educational needs of under privileged kids. As they grow, they continue to support other NGOs and soon would like to be known as the ‘NGO which supports other NGOs’.

BigHeart App launch

The app has four main features. They are,

· Donate – To enable users to support Big Heart monetarily

· Savior – To enable users to register themselves as donors

· Enlist – To enable users to register as volunteers

· Request – To enable users to search for donors

Apart from these key features, there is a side navigation bar which has details about Big Heart and its activities.

Collaboration with other NGOs – ‘NGO for other NGOs’

Big Heart was founded by young techies with a zeal to give something back to the society. While they try to bring a balance between their personal lives and NGO work, they adhere to dedicate most of their weekends and holidays on a soul mission to heal the world and make it a better place. In collaboration with other NGOs, they really hope to become an NGO to other NGOs soon. This can be achieved by giving support to the activities conducted by them, by sharing volunteers with their projects, thus widening their horizon and in turn helping to serve society better. They have already collaborated with three other NGOs – Hand in Hand, Abhilashrayam and Sankalp India. They are really looking forward to all their future endeavours and hope to bring a difference and a ray of hope to many lives.

Anyone can register as a blood donor by clicking on ‘Savior’ button in the Big Heart App. Also people who require blood can request for blood by clicking on ‘Request’ button.
