Mangaluru: The St. Aloysius Evening College had organised a one-day camp under the auspices of its NSS unit, Students’ Council and Outreach Programme – One Rupee Revolution, on August 20 at St. Antony’s Poor Homes, Jeppu, Mangaluru.
The students began the activities with a play to spread awareness on the harmful effects of alcohol. They also conducted games for the inmates of the ashram.
Another highlight of the camp was the observance of Swacch Bharath and Shramadaan by the NSS students who cleared the ashram compound by removing grass and weeds. The staff and students of St. Aloysius Evening College used the opportunity to celebrate Vanamahotsava by planting saplings in the ashram garden thus lending their mite to conserve the environment.
The inmates of the ashram were treated to refreshments sponsored from the fund collected by the One Rupee Revolution, the Outreach Programme of St. Aloysius Evening College. Dr. Manohar V Serrao, Principal, SAEC, Dr. Donald Lobo, Director, Students’ Council, Kishorechandra, NSS Co-ordinator, Hitesh Madivala, President, Students’ Council and Rev. Fr. Peter Gonsalves, Assistant Director, St. Antony’s Poor Homes were present.
