A CME on ‘Chronic Pain Management’ organized by Yenepoya Anaesthesiology Dept.

Mangaluru: The Department of Anaesthesiology, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Mangalore conducted a one day CME programme on Sunday 14th June 2015. The theme of the CME was “Chronic Pain Management” and the venue was Indoor Auditorium, Academic Block, Yenepoya Medical College Campus, Deralakatte.
The CME was inaugurated by Dr. P. Chandramohan, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya University. In his inaugural address he highlighted that awareness of acute and chronic pain was their even from the days of Sushrutha.  Today understanding of the pathophysiology of pain and management of chronic pain by counselling, drug therapy and interventional nerve block helped lot of patients who suffer from various types of cancer pain.

Dr. Gautham Das, Director, Daradia Pain Clinic, Kolkata was the Chief Resource person,  Dr. Anand Bangera, Professor &  H.O.D, Dept. of Anaesthesiology, KSHEMA  was the Karnataka Medical Council Observer.  Dr. Ramkumar. P, Senior Consultant, Aster Medicity, Kochi, Dr. Anil Paleri, Consultant in Pain and Palliative Care, CMC, Calicut and Dr. Rammurthy, Asst. Professor were the other resource persons.  Dr. Radhesh Hegde, Dr. Madhusudhan Upadya, Dr. Gayatri Bhat, Dr. Srikantu J., Dr. Rupa Sreedhar, faculties outside the Yenepoya University conducted the discussion of pain management.  Nearly 200 delegates in and around Karnataka and Kerala state attended the Programme.

Dr. S. Padmanabha, Prof. & HOD, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Rammurthy, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Anaesthesiology delivered the vote of thanks.  Dr. Moosabba M.S. (Incharge Principal, YMC) graced the occasion. Dr. Zakiya Maryam, Dr. Maria Issac, postgraduates compeered the programme.
