Mangaluru: The eighth edition of the Big Green Ganesha was kicked off by 92.7 BIG FM here in the city. The campaign was laid down in 2008 with the vision for a better eco-friendly future.
BIG Green Ganesha aims at creating social consciousness towards making one of India’s largest and most popular festivals, ecologically sound. The campaign spans across 15 major cities this year including Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, Sholapur, Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Surat, Baroda, Mysore, Tirupati, Vizag, Chennai and Mangalore.
With a paper collection drive underway, the radio network has started the process of collecting tons of newspapers and other paper products from residential areas, celebrity houses, corporate offices, shops and other commercial establishments. These will be shared with renowned sculptors from across the country to enable the creation of beautiful and artistic eco-friendly Ganesha idols through techniques of paper mache and clay molding
The installation of the BIG Green Ganesha was done at the Forum fiza mall,Pandeshwar on 17th September ,morning at 10.30 am, state health minister Mr. U.T Khader was the chief guest and was presided by Mangalore city Mayor Mrs.Jacintha Alfred, president of Panambur beach development authority Mr.Yathish Baikampady ,Mr Taranath Shetty Bolar , Director and actor Devdas Kapikad and the whole team of ‘’Chandikori’’ movie was present during the occasion.
Addressing the gathering U.T.Khadar appreciated the wonderful imitative taken by the team 92.7 BIG FM ,and he also said to extend his support such for this initiation ,followed by Mayor Jacintha said that she was glad to be a part of this progamme and she will take measures from the corporation to uphold such activities .
Actor/Director Devdas Kapikad,said that he is proud to be a part of 92.7 BIGM since years and he will always extend his support in future, speaking to the audience MR Tharanath Shetty and MR Yathish Baikampady also appreciated the same and called people to come up with such programmes and make this Ganapathi Bappas nature a Eco friendly nature. BIG Green Ganesha darshana is available for the public till 26th of September at Forum Mall.
Benedryl BIG Golden Voice Mangalore City winner Aishwarya Mallikarjun sung a song dedicated to Lord Ganesha.
‘Chandikori’ Tulu movie team performed for a song and also spoke about the movie which is going to be release on 25th September. Arjun Kapikad, Karishma Amin, Movie producer Shamila Kapikad and Sachin Uppinangary were present.
92.7 BIG FM Crew RJ Errol, RJ Roopesh ,RJ Rakshitha executive producer Shilpa Shetty ,and Promo producer Joel Rebello , Along with Nikhil and Karthik from the Forum Mall were present during the programme.
