Chennai: Shankar’s directorial “Ai”, starring Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead roles, held its audio and teaser release on Monday September 15, in the presence of Hollywood Superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.
It’s fun coming to India, said “Terminator” star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was in Chennai for the audio launch of “Ai” starring Vikram in the lead.
Talking about Shankar, the director of “Ai”, he said, “He comes up with superb special effects in his films. I’d love to work with him someday soon.”
Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday arrived amidst tight security at the Chennai airport to attend the audio launch of Vikram-starrer “Ai”.
Schwarzenegger shared the dais with Tamil movie superstar Rajinikanth.
The special number, which had a dozen local bodybuilders showing off their muscles, had Arnold in rapt attention. In an impromptu move, he went up on stage and posed for pictures with all of them. He said, “It’s great to see all this talent. It reminds me of my olden days. It’s wonderful that Shankar has given them a chance to star in the movie.”
“Ai”, which stars Vikram in the lead, has the actor playing Lingesan, a bodybuilder who aspires to become Mr. Tamil Nadu.
“Ai” is one of the most-awaited films of 2014. Expectations are high for the film as Vikram has teamed up with director Shankar for the second time post the stupendous success of their 2006-release “Anniyan.”
“Ai” is touted to be a romantic thriller with Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead roles.
Shankar has kept the film’s story under wraps. Apparently, major portions of the Vikram starrer are set in China. Vikram has reportedly undergone several physical changes and will be seen in more than one look in the film. The shooting of “Ai” is almost complete with only a song left to be shot.
The big budget entertainer is produced by Aascar Ravichandran under his Aascar Films banner. The film’s music is composed by Oscar winner A. R. Rahman. Young music composer Anirudh has rendered a song for “Ai” album and Sony music has reportedly snapped the audio rights of the film.
The story for this romantic thriller has been written by Shankar Subha. Sreeram P. C. has cranked the camera while Anthony has handled the editing work.
The film has been in the making for almost two years. The Shankar directorial was expected to be a summer release, but it did not materialise. The latest buzz is that the Vikram starrer is eyeing a Diwali release in October.
If the film releases for the festival period, it will be a special treat for the fans. However, “Ai” is unlikely to have a solo release as two other Tami biggies are gearing up to hit theatres during the same time. Vijay’s “Kaththi” and Vishal’s “Poojai” have already been confirmed for the festival release.
Considering the big budget of “Ai”, the film’s makers might be looking for a solo release. It is doubtful whether the makers would take a risk to release the film along with two other biggies.
