New Delhi: Varun Grover, a writer-lyricist, who has worked on projects such as Sacred Games and Masaan has denied allegations of sexual harassment levied against him by an unnamed woman. An anonymous Twitter user alleged that she was sexually harassed by Varun when he was a student in BHU. After this tweet went viral, Varun took to his Twitter to deny these claims, writing that it was really unfortunate that completely fabricated and defamatory allegations were being made against him and that none of the events as described in the screenshot of the anonymous tweet was true.
Since then the tweet and the account which alleged him of sexual misconduct have been deleted. Meanwhile, Directors Anurag Kashyap and Neeraj Ghaywan have come out in support of Varun with Anurag tweeting that he has known Varun closely for a very long time and that he refuses to believe any allegations made against him, he also alleged that this was a farce trying to sabotage the genuine movement which was long pending.
Neeraj also used his Twitter to voice his opinion about this matter, saying that he has known Varun for a large part of his life and that he would never do such a thing and that these allegations reek of vindictive behaviour with no shred of truth in them. He also voiced out on how such slanderous allegations are trying to sabotage the #MeToo movement in India.
