The period of the 90s and 00s was fun, especially the TV brought in so much change in the lives of growing kids, teens and adults. Time felt real then, the binge-watching of films on Weekends, back-to-back blockbusters starting Saturday night until the last hour of Sunday was vim.
However, the level of enthusiasm has faded now, and the TV viewing numbers are reduced in youths. The old school television watching hobby is no longer fun. The best way of spending leisure remains the binge watch, the name remains the same but the act is all different.
Today, we are living in the eras of 5G, low-cost internet, AI, Netflix and whatnot. So much has evolved so quickly today that anything new or innovative today is called retro tomorrow. Today, people can watch any movie any day without any commercials on any electronic device and that is the reason for this shift.
The launch of OTT platforms marks the end of the TV era, the number of TV audiences is fine yet the youth are slowly out of it. Binge-watching is the new normal these days. People watch an entire season of a series in a single go and this is something unimaginable a decade back.
Hundreds and thousands of hours are spent watching shows, movies, and documentaries through OTT platforms. Binge-watching is not a positive sign at all, this new passion for consuming content has increased the number of health issues including Sedentary behaviour, obesity, sleep problems and many more.
