Mangaluru: Sandeep Malani has made the wonder of wonders and a record of sorts by casting more than 100 artistes for his film series, “Maa – Yeh Cinemaa Hai”. While the artistes are from Bangalore, Bombay and other parts of our country, Malani has got several talented actors from Mangalore playing important roles in the film.
The Mangaloreans who can be seen in the film include Meena Malani, Deepali Khambakdone, Reshma Malani, Nigel Pereira, Denzil Pereira, Silver Malani, Dilip Malani, Cherrie Ash, Canyut Fernandes, Dinesh, Sachin Shetty, Nikhil Kulal, G K Thirumalesh, Clement Sequeira, Mohammed Aashiq, Chirag Kundapur, Daniel Cutinha, Marina Roopa, Joseph Rajan, Roseline Sequeira, Xavier Fernandes, Ivy Fernandes, Vinay Saldanha, Jaison Melroy, Juliet Aranha, Gita Suvarna, Ashwin Rao, Avinash Poojary, Alwyn D’Souza, Nishita Saldanha, Anil Maxim Pinto, Leslie Fernandes, Melson D’Souza, Ajit Shetty, Clerry Fernandes, Valerian Fernandes, Roy Sequeira, Umesh K T, Clara Pinto, Mohammed Kabeer, Violet Tauro, Vincent Tauro, Baby Sharon David, Master Sam Pinto, Master Daniel Pinto, Baby Isabelle among others.
Veteran Tulu actress Sarojini Shetty can be seen in an important role in the film and so is Konkani and Tulu character artiste Vinny Fernandes playing a comedy role in the series. It’s a first for both the talented actress in Hindi cinema.
With all the above actors and actresses, Malani has also roped in the current heartthrobs Sonal Monteiro, Esther Noronha and Varsha Acharya playing important characters in the film. While Varsha Acharya plays one of the leads as a surprise entry in the series, its Sonal Monteiro and Esther Noronha who play themselves giving a strong message to the society about woman empowerment. Saiheel Rai, being himself plays what he is good at, anchoring and holding the grip of the audience.
Famous “Bangar Patler” director Dr Richard Castelino too appears as himself in a sequence in the film, along with his wife Leena Castelino. As a surprise appearance, one can also get to see the famous Konkani comedian Adolphous Cutinha, popularly known as Dolla in a TV sequence in the film.
And lastly, the talented world famous artist/painter Chitra Mithra too makes an appearance as himself in the opening title credits of the film, that has the famous Konkani song “Mog Tuzo Kithlo Ashelom” sung by Prajoth D’Sa and Ashwin D’Costa, who also makes a cameo appearance.
