Bangalore: Rajinikanth, after gaining his foothold in the Tamil film industry, hardly ventured outside Tamil industry. His last Kannada film was in 1981. He had acted once in a while in a few Hindi movies in the 1990s. Petta, his latest film was planned to be dubbed in Kannada and Rajini himself was to dub for it.

As per reports, Rajinikanth refused to dub the film after the meeting with the producers over the weekend. The Kannada film industry was opposed to dubbing until recently. They stopped opposing dubbing openly after the Competition Commission of India imposed fines. But many in the Kannada industry are not supporting dubbing movies of other languages to Kannada.

Rajinikanth, having many friends in the Kannada film industry does not want to go against them and hurt them at the later years of his career. Moreover, he is planning for a political launch shortly and does not want to create any kind of unwanted controversy.
