Mumbai: Actor Purab Kohli, who debuted in the 1998 TV show ‘Hip Hip Hurray’, expressed initial reluctance about taking up the role. Over the course of 25 years, Purab has achieved a remarkable journey in the Entertainment Industry, transitioning from TV shows to being a VJ, starring in films, and now venturing into the realm of OTT.
Currently based in London, he shared insights into his quarter-century of experience. Reflecting on his journey, he conveyed, “I cherished every experience because I undertook work that I truly wanted to do. Interestingly, I was hesitant about joining ‘Hip Hip Hurray’. The prospect of being part of a TV show left me perplexed. My aspiration was to become a pilot. However, when I attended the audition and met my fellow actors—youthful like me—I realized the potential for fun in the show, prompting my decision to take on the project.”
“This led to an audition at Channel V, where I was selected to be a VJ, an endeavor I cherished for 8 years. At that time, the notion prevailed that VJs couldn’t act, a stereotype I shattered. Following that, I engaged in some impressive film projects. Thus, every phase of my career has been enjoyable.”
Purab’s most recent appearance was in the film ‘Blind’, which premiered on Jio Cinema on July 7. The movie also starred Sonam Kapoor and Vinay Pathak.
