Bengaluru: “I was determined to become an actor,” says Nishanth Naidu, a young and budding actor who made his acting debut through Disney+ Hotstar’s  crime thriller series, ‘November Story’. He studied B.Voc in Visual Media and Film Making at the Institute of Communication and Media studies in St Joseph College (Autonomous), Bengaluru.

Speaking to NewsKarnataka, Nishanth Naidu said that, “I used to impersonate my classmates at school and they liked it. People who had never spoken to me before began to cheer me on. Later, I joined and worked for three years with a theatre group while also giving auditions, making short films, and other activities. I had to quit engineering to pursue my career in films and thus enrolled in St Joseph College.”

The shooting began on October 2019 and it recently got released. He went on to say that he received a call from the November Story team, asking if he would be interested in auditioning for a web series. “I was shocked at first! Finally, I decided to give it a go, and I was cast as a supporting character. I had no idea what the web series was about and very delighted to know that I would be working along with Tamannah,a renowned South Indian actress and Pasupathy, a well-known Indian actor. Everyone at home was thrilled to hear this.”

“I am proud of myself because all of my hard work over the years had led me to this point. Despite the fact that it is a minor role, I am grateful for what I have been offered. Working with the director and team indeed was a pleasure,” he added.

The staff and college management at St Joseph College is delighted to see its student succeed.

“Nishanth has been a wonderful and dedicated student. From the beginning, he wanted to become an actor. He’d tried everything he could think of to get it. He juggled his education and his passion when he was selected in the web series,” said Maruthu Pandiyan, coordinator of B.Voc in Visual media and Filmmaking, Institute of Communication and Media studies, St Joseph College.

Nishant has written, directed and appeared in a number of short films.

Maruthu went on to say that they began Visual Media and Film Making course six years ago as a skill development programme. “We are seeing the outcome of the course. It gives us great pleasure to see our students pursue their dreams in the profession,” he added.
