Oscar Awards 2016: Leonardo DiCaprio wins Best Actor for ‘The Revenant’

Los Angeles: Hollywoood actor Leonardo DiCaprio won the Oscar for the Best Actor for his film “The Revenant” at the 88th Academy Awards ceremony held here on Sunday.

This was the first Oscar win for Leonardo, after being previously nominated but missing it.

“The Revenant” is about a frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s who fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.

Los Angeles: Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy won the Oscar for Best Documentary-Short Subject for her project based on honour killing titled “A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness” at the 88th annual Academy Awards is being held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

The stars descended in their best fineries to be part of the prestigious event that sees one of the biggest names from the world celluloid coming together to celebrate cinema and its various aspects.
