Bengaluru: Actor Mithun Chakraborty’s father Basanta Kumar Chakraborty died in Mumbai on Tuesday. However, the veteran actor could not be with his father as he is stranded in Bengaluru due to the lockdown.

Basanta Kumar Chakroborty was 95 and he was battling age-related complications for some time.

Mithun Chakroborty was shooting in the capital city when the lockdown was announced and hence, couldn’t return to Mumbai.

Despite his absence, the last rites of his father were performed on Wednesday by his family members in Mumbai.

Basanta Kumar Chakraborty is survived by his wife Santimoyee Chakraborty and four children. Mithun, whose real name is Gouranga Chakraborty, is the eldest among his siblings.
