Nana Patekar’s Stance: A Film Scene Misunderstood
Nana Patekar responded to the viral video with a video message, stating that the incident happened while filming “Journey.” “A video of me hitting a boy is going viral,” he declared. We only had one rehearsal for this sequence, even though it’s in our movie. There was going to be another rehearsal. I was told to start by the director. Just as we were about to start, the boy from the video entered. I had no idea who he was. I told him to leave and gave him a scene-appropriate slap because I thought he was a member of our crew.Later, I came to know that he was not a part of the crew. So, I was going to call him back but he ran away. Maybe his friend shot the video. I have never said no to anybody for a photo. I don’t do this…This happened by mistake…If there is some misunderstanding, please forgive me…I will never do anything like this.”
Before Nana Patekar’s clarification, director Anil Sharma had dismissed the claims, stating that the viral video was a misrepresented snippet from the film. Sharma asserted that the scene in question was part of their project and not an actual incident of Patekar slapping a fan. He debunked the rumors during an interview with Aaj Tak.
