Mumbai: Falaq Naaz, known for her role in ‘Sasural Simar Ka,’ recently left her mark on the reality show ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2.’ Managing to endure her stay in the show for an extended period, the actress described her experience in the house as a rewarding journey, emphasizing its significance in her life.
Reflecting on her time in ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2,’ she expressed, “The ‘Bigg Boss’ experience was truly enjoyable throughout the entire journey. It provides immense personal growth, and the actual trophy becomes less important. I believe the greatest prize in life is self-discovery and inner peace. Therefore, I consider ‘Bigg Boss’ as a pivotal platform in my life at that moment.”
Addressing the audience’s reactions, she shared, “The audience’s response has been overwhelmingly positive. They have showered me with such warmth and love. I didn’t anticipate such a level of affection. ‘Bigg Boss’ is a show where contestants tend to either become entirely negative or emerge as genuinely good individuals. For me, it was a gamble, but I didn’t let it overwhelm me. I stayed true to myself, followed my instincts, and left the rest to fate.”
Although primarily known for her roles in soap operas, Falaq hadn’t ventured much into reality TV lately. However, her participation in ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’ offered her a fresh perspective and highlighted the stark differences between the two formats.
Describing the disparity between reality shows and daily soaps, she explained, “The contrast between reality shows and daily soaps is significant. In a daily soap, you portray a character and immerse yourself in it for 12 to 13 hours a day. You become that character, and you cease to be yourself. For example, if I am Falaq, I cease to be Falaq and continue living as the character I portray.”
Expanding on this, she added, “In reality shows, you have the opportunity to be yourself, showcasing your genuine personality. Such opportunities are rare in an actor’s life, where you can authentically reveal your true self. Different characters are essential in making a show or movie beautiful, and an actor can’t merely be a lead; it takes a diverse cast to create a captivating production.”
Having spent over 12 years in the industry, Falaq has gained a fresh perspective on how the industry has evolved over time.
Discussing these changes, she remarked, “We have witnessed significant growth, and competition has become much fiercer since we started. Back then, the industry had a select few reigning supreme, and talent was the primary factor. Nowadays, there are numerous shows, actors, and producers, which has its advantages and disadvantages. In the past, there was a sense of tranquility, but now chaos seems to prevail everywhere. Everyone appears to be in a constant rush.”
However, Falaq did not criticize this shift; instead, she emphasized that no role should be considered too big or small, and actors should not reject opportunities they may deem insignificant, as every role carries its own impact.
She stressed, “The key lesson is that no character, regardless of its size, should be underestimated. That’s a principle I’ve adhered to throughout my career. Actors need to realize that rejecting any role is unwise. For instance, everyone aspires to play the lead, but a leading character alone cannot sustain a show or movie.”
She continued, “It’s the diverse characters that enhance the beauty of a production. It’s crucial to recognize the character’s importance and the depth of their development. For me, learning has always been, and will continue to be, centered on this principle.”
