Mumbai: Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut was on Monday, granted an extension of her protection from arrest in connection with a sedition case by the Bombay High Court till January 25.
The extension was granted during the hearing of a petition by the actress who is seeking to quash an FIR lodged on October 17, 2020 on the directions of Bandra Court Metropolitan Magistrate J.Y. Ghule over alleged hateful social media posts made by the duo.
Following the FIR, Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel were issued a summons by the Bandra Police to appear on three different dates which they skipped on various grounds. After the third summons, they had moved the Bombay HC.
Meanwhile, the hearing has been adjourned to January 25, giving the sisters respite from any coercive action by the police.
Further, the court has asked the original complainant to reply to Kangana’s plea seeking to quash the FIR.
