New Delhi: As the new regime kicks in, Maruti Suzuki on Saturday announced a price cut on select vehicles by up to 3 per cent to pass on GST benefit to customers.
Maruti, however, raised the prices of its Ciaz and Ertiga with mild hybrid technology by over Rs 1 lakh. As it was announced earlier that prices of hybrid cars would go up after the Goods and Service Tax is implemented.
The GST rates will bring in tax parity across the country and will lead to a regime of ‘one nation, one tax’, say auto makers. One of the biggest benefit will be flowing in for people living in Mumbai where the Octroi will be subsumed in the new GST rate.
Larger SUVs and sedans are expected to see the maximum price cut while smaller cars will also be marginally cheaper.
