Mumbai: India’s online shopping giant Flipkart posted a loss of about Rs 2,000 crore in the financial year ended March 2015, as it spent heavily to fund discounts in a bid to beat its rivals Snapdeal and Amazon India. In addition, it also invested heavily on the backend operations.
Flipkart Internet, which runs the consumer-facing portal, registered a net loss of Rs 1,096.4 crore, while Flipkart India, the wholesale arm, showed a loss of Rs 836.5 crore, according to a Registrar of Companies filing on Monday.
