Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, lauded the burgeoning cooperation between Tehran and Riyadh following the normalization of their bilateral relations. Speaking at the third Iranian-Arab Dialogue Conference in Tehran on Sunday, Amir-Abdollahian highlighted the commitment to fostering understanding and solidarity among regional nations, citing the normalization of ties with Saudi Arabia as a prime example of Iran’s dedication to strengthening relationships with neighboring and Arab states.

Addressing attendees, including Iranian officials, foreign ambassadors, and representatives from various nations, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the significant progress made in the multifaceted expansion of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia over the past year. He underscored the abundant opportunities for further collaboration between the two countries.

Furthermore, he noted Iran’s initiation of a new phase of cooperation with the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, while also indicating discussions with Bahrain to advance towards normalizing bilateral relations.

Last April, Iran and Saudi Arabia formally announced the resumption of diplomatic relations, marking a pivotal moment following Saudi Arabia’s severance of ties with Iran in early 2016, prompted by attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran following the execution of a Shia cleric by Saudi authorities.
