A video of a wedding in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has stunned some parts of the internet. Guests at the event saw an extravagant gift exchange between the two families.
An Instagram user by the name of Vinit Bhati shared this specific episode on social media. The video shows that a man could be heard announcing the opulent “gifts.”
“This is a dining table, two cars, one of which is a Mercedes E-Class and the other is a Toyota Fortuner, and the weight of the items is 1.25 kg gold and 7 kg silver,” the man was heard saying as he read the list of items from a paper to the guests.
Many users expressed their disdain for what they perceived as an ostentatious display of wealth, with some going as far as to label the groom as a “begging bowl in disguise.”
The sentiment of disgust was echoed by numerous other social media users who slammed the groom’s family in no uncertain terms.
“This is not a wedding but a business,” a user said. Another person commented: “Why isn’t the police taking action? Taking and giving dowry was a crime as far as I know.”
