The founder of Wingify Software, Paras Chopra, recently got an unusual offer from a candidate for a position. If he was hired to work at Wingify, the applicant offered to pay him $500.
Based in Bengaluru Chopra posted a screen grab of the correspondence he got from the candidate, stating that while he would clearly decline the offer, the pitch still impressed him. In his message, the candidate said that if hired to work at Wingify, he would give Chopra $500 (roughly Rs 41,000). Chopra would have the right to fire him and keep the money if he failed to demonstrate his abilities in the first week.
“I want to work at Wingify,” read the message sent to Paras Chopra, founder and chairman of Wingify. “I have a unique proposition for you. I’ll pay you $500 to hire me. If I don’t prove myself to be one of the best within a week you can fire me & keep the money. Saying this so I’ll have skin in the game & not to waste your team’s time.”
“Looking forward to your rejection,” the message ended.
This is how you get attention!

Opinion in the comments section was divided. While some said they loved the attention-grabbing job application, others thought it set a bad precedent. This, however, is not the first time that job-seekers have gone above and beyond to get noticed. Recently, the CEO of American company Antimetal received a pizza along with an applicant’s CV and letter explaining why he should be hired as an intern at the company.
Wingify is a software company that Chopra started in 2009. A gold medalist from Delhi College of Engineering, he has been featured twice in the Forbes 30 under 30 list – India and Asia. Besides Wingify, he is also the founder of Nintee and VWO.
