Mysuru: The hunt for land to build a new office for the Head of the District, the Deputy Commissioner has continued for over two years, now. The State Government deeming that the present DC office as old and unsafe had sanctioned Rs. 35 crore for the construction of a new DC’s Office for which it asked the District administration to find land, but that land still remains elusive.
DC’s office had identified eight places of which three were dropped due to litigation, 18 months ago. Now they have zeroed in on the land near Sri Cauvery School, which again has run into hurdles. In the meanwhile, the present DC’s office which is almost dilapidated remains an unsafe place to house such an important office. It is feared that the DC office also, like the famous Lansdowne building, built in the same period, may collapse any moment.
With regards to the same, there was an option of a land lying vacant near Sri Cauvery School in Kuvempunagar which belongs to MUDA, however they refused to give this land citing some rules.
MUDA is likely to place the District Administration’s proposal before the Board Meeting of MUDA and if the meeting arrives at a consensus, the land would be cleared; sources said and added that MUDA could not allot the land to the District Administration as the said land has been earmarked for residential purpose.
The District Administration sources said that they may seek the help of District In-Charge and Revenue Minister Sreenivasa Prasad, to prevail upon MUDA to allot the land. The District Administration may also appeal to Chief Minister Siddharamaiah to direct MUDA to allot the land.
