Mysore : Mysore (or Mysuru) is the third largest city in the state of Karnataka,, which served as the capital city of Mysore Princely Kingdom for nearly six centuries, from 1399 until 1947. Tourism is a major Industry. Millions of tourists visit Mysore every year to see the famous Mysore Palace and the Mysore Zoo among other tourist attractions.

The Tourism industry requires excellent infrastructure if it is to generate wealth for its stakeholders. This infrastructure includes connectivity, Hospitality and services. Especially important is quality road connectivity. While generally the roads are broad and well maintained, some of the roads, especially those with heavy traffic and those to and from tourist attractions have deteriorated to a large extent, inviting derogatory comments from tourists.
An example is the connecting road to the famous Mysore zoo from Siddartha Layout and T Narsipura which has been under repair / construction from the past few months. Vehicles including Luxury busses, City busses to T Narsipura are finding difficult to drive on this road without avoiding the pitfalls. Due to this, heavy traffic jams and many minor accidents have taken place and are becoming a common occurrence. This road even connects two other important locations – the Race Course Club, Mysore and the Mall of Mysore.
The Mysore City corporation should gear up to complete the road work at the earliest to avoid inconvenience to citizens tourists and the imminent Dasara festival 2014.
