Mysore: Many of the ATM’s of leading banks in the city are out of order due to poor maintenance. These ATM’s are located in prominent locations like KSRTC terminus, Zoo road, beside Mysore University Campus and Jayalaxmipuram etc.
Mysore is expected to see a huge influx of tourists from all over the world during the dasara season in October and they are likely to be badly inconvenienced by these unusable ATM’s. Naturally the economy too will suffer.

Users at the ATM machines speaking to this reporter said that “this is also possibly due to poor usage, as the number of bank acount holders grow under the Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana, first time account holders will have to be educated on usage of ATM’s to conclude their banking transactions.
With the ATM’s mostly displaying instructions in Hindi and English, rather than the local language and english, improper usage could damage the machines. Therefore an educational program for first time users is a must or the instruction display mechanisms must be improved”.
