Bantwal: A district administration delegation along with deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim visited the house of Prabha Kumar who was stabbed to death in Sydney by unidentified persons last week.

The DC visited Prabha’s house Nandagokula in her native place Amtoor and expressed grief over her sad demise.
Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, District police commissioner Dr Sharanappa, Taluk acting Tahshildar Mohammad Isaac, Thashildar designate Purandhar Hegde, Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar were a part of the delegation.
While speaking to reporters, the DC said that, we have met the victim’s family on behalf of the government. The procedure of bringing mortal remains to the city is almost done and the body is expected to reach India on the weekend after the body is handed over to her husband on friday. In this regard we have spoken to the family, he said. Prabha’s husband reached Sydney on the 9th of March .
Assistant tahshildar Rohinath, R I Narayana Poojary, village accountant A P Bhat were also present.
The case:
A 39-year-old Indian software consultant from Mangaluru was stabbed to death by an unknown assailant as she walked to her home in Sydney, Australia, last week.
Prabha Shetty, the mother of a nine-year-old girl, was on the phone with her husband in Bengaluru when she was attacked, probably by someone who wanted to rob her.
Prabha was stabbed in Parramatta Park in the Sydney suburb of Westmead in an attack local police described as “horrific”, reports said. Prabha, a senior technical analyst with the Bengaluru-headquartered IT consultancy firm Mindtree, was barely 300 m from her home when she was attacked.
Earlier B Ramanath Rai also had visited the house of Prabha Kumar here on Tuesday.
Expressing grief over over the untimely death of the techie he said state government is in touch with central government to ensure the arrest of the culprits by Australian government.
He offered the state government’s help in expediting the procedure of handing over mortal remains to the family, he said.
District panchayat member Chandraprakash Shetty, Panemangalore Block Congress president Abbas Ali, Padmanabha Rai, Niranjan Jain were present.
