Mandya: A tragic incident unfolded in Mandya where a husband’s increasing frustration with his wife’s penchant for making her own Instagram reels took a horrifying turn. The husband, Srinath (33), allegedly strangled his 26-year-old wife, Pooja, and disposed of her body in the Cauvery River. The shocking murder has rattled the community. Srinath reportedly couldn’t handle Pooja’s obsession with creating and sharing reels on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Disturbed by her constant engagement with her mobile phone and her persistent reel-making, he allegedly took her life at their home in Mandyakoppalu village in Srirangapatna taluk. After committing the crime, Srinath contacted the emergency helpline number 102 and turned himself into the authorities. The couple, who had been in a relationship for nine years before marrying, have a daughter. However, Srinath’s escalating frustration with Pooja’s social media reel addiction led to this tragic outcome. He reportedly received assistance from Pooja’s father, Dore Swamy, in disposing of the body. The Arakere police have filed a case and are currently investigating the matter.
