During his visit to Sirsi in Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an unexpected encounter with Mohini Gowda, a local fruit vendor known for her dedication to cleanliness and community service. Arriving at the helipad, PM Modi’s first interaction in Sirsi was with Gowda, who runs a fruit-selling business at the Ankola Bus Stand, where she sells fruits wrapped in leaves.
Gowda’s commitment to cleanliness and her efforts to bolster the local economy caught the attention of PM Modi, who paused to engage in conversation with her, gaining insights into her journey and commending her dedication. Their interaction highlighted the importance of grassroots initiatives in driving economic growth and fostering community spirit.
Later, addressing a public rally in Uttara Kannada district, PM Modi emphasized the BJP government’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities, citing the historic representation of MPs and MLAs from SC, ST, and OBC backgrounds in the ruling government. He contrasted this with the Congress party’s approach, stating that the BJP has always prioritized giving opportunities to leaders from backward classes.
PM Modi also highlighted the government’s initiatives, including the transformation of over 100 backward districts into Aspirational Districts. He attributed significant poverty reduction to these efforts, claiming that over 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty in the past decade as a result of these initiatives.
