Kodagu: A rangoli competition was held at Gandhi Maidan in the City on April 30 by the Kodagu District Administration, District Sveep Committee, Taluk Sveep Committee and Streeshakti Unions to increase voter turnout in Kodagu District under the Voter Education and Awareness (Sweep) programme in the background of Assembly elections.

District Sveep Committee President and GP CEO Dr. S. Aakash launched the Rangoli competition programme. Streeshakti Union President Rehana Sultana, Bharat Scouts and Guides District Chief Commissioner K.T. Baby Mathew Madikeri Taluk Folk Parishad President Anil H. T., Women and Child Development Department Deputy Director N. Manjunath, CDPOs Seethalakshmi, Savita and others were present.

More than 30 women from Madikeri Taluk participated in the Rangoli competition.

The women spread colourful rangoli and preached about the importance of voting. S. K. Ishwari, the District ambassador and special spirit of the Assembly election, attracted attention by participating in the Rangoli competition.

Rangoli depicting electronic voting machine and polling stations attracted the attention of the audience. A rangoli drawn in colour and flower attracts attention. It was special that even the under 18s participated in the Rangoli competition.

Roopashree, wife of District Collector Dr. B. C. Satish and V. T. Vismayi, Assistant Director of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department were judges for the Rangoli competition.
