Madikeri: A vibrant Dasara Mantapa procession turned somber in the early hours of Wednesday when a tractor, part of the Kundur Motte Chauti Mariamma Temple Committee’s display, overturned, injuring three individuals. The incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. while the procession was in full swing.
As the tractor was making its way down the parade route, it toppled over while parked on a sloping road near the DCC Bank. The abrupt accident caused concern and shock among the onlookers, leading to the dispersal of the large crowd gathered to witness the festivities.
A member of the temple committee provided insights into the incident, stating, “We had meticulously planned two performances for the occasion, one near the temple premises and the other as part of the parade. The vehicle was scheduled to reach the judges for the second performance at 4 a.m. Regrettably, the tractor encountered a malfunction before it could reach its intended location.”
The local police promptly responded to the incident, registering a case and launching an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Authorities are working to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators during the ongoing festivities.
