Mangaluru: The High Court judgement to grant bail to the main accused Naresh Shenoy in the sensational RTI activist Vinayak Baliga muder case has been challenged by the slain activist’s family.
Ravindranath Kamath, the lawyer of Baliga’s family in Supreme Court, adrressing a press meet on Saturday, said that Baliga’s father Ramachandra Baliga has filed a plea in the Supreme Court challenging the earlier High Court judgement of granting bail to Shenoy and the hearing is due on November 28. The family has also appealed for the narco analysis test in the Supreme Court since our earlier plea in the High Court was cancelled. The petition will be heard on Friday December 2.
Kamath further said that the activist’s family has decided to approach the Supreme Court as the main accused Shenoy is out on bail though investigation is not complete.
It may be recalled that Mangaluru-based business tycoon Naresh Shenoy, the main accused in the RTI activist Vinayak Baliga murder case has been granted conditional bail by the Karnataka High Court here on September 15. RTI activist Vinayak Baliga who had unearthed many controversial information related to unauthorised constructions in the city was hacked to death near his house on March 21, 2016. He had also raised the issue about alleged irregularities in the affairs of the famous Venkataramana temple in Mangaluru.
