Thirthahalli case: VHP, BD demand justice

Karkala: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal held the protest against the state government in context with the recent death of a high school student Nanditha Poojary from Teerthali, who was allegedly raped and killed by the culprits, last week.

BJP MLA Sunil Kumar has alleged that the state government is trying to protect her criminals who belong to the minority community and have been attacking hindus.

Kumar said that when a transporter named Kabeer, was encountered in a cow slaughter case, his family was given a compensation of Rs 10 lakh, while in another case when Ratna Kottary, a student of Shiroor PU College was killed in a suspicious circumstances, government allotted a compensation of only Rs three lakh.

BJP MLA adds that if such differences in compensation will continue certainly people will come forward to protest against the government in coming days.

The protesters demanded Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the family of Nanditha Poojary.

They also threatened to seize the office of education minister Kimmane Rathnakar. Also, they alleged that minister instead of imparting justice to Nanditha, is protecting the accused.

VHP Udupi distrcit vice president Narayana Maniyani, Bajrang Dal convenor K R Sunil, Taluk convenor Mahesh Bailoor, Chetan Peralke, Hebri Dinesh Shetty, Naveen Nayak, Supreeth Shetty and Rathnakar Ajekaru were present.
