Shivamogga: A complaint has been lodged at the city’s Cyber, Economics, and Narcotics Police station against individuals accused of establishing a Facebook group falsely attributed to Karnataka Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa. Allegedly, the group circulated social media posts critical of the Minister and his political party.
G.D. Manjunath, state coordinator of KPCC, registered a fraudulent Facebook group disguised as Madhu Bangarappa, which emerged on November 27.
A Facebook group with 58K followers features a Minister’s picture, while a user named ‘Kundapura Virat’ defames the Minister and Congress party regarding the ‘Acche din’.
The complaint accuses Congress party of denigrating the party, citing photos of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who are questioning the ‘acche din’ (good days) in the country.
The complaint alleges that a fake group posted posts disparaging Congress leaders and Karnataka government’s guarantee schemes, fabricating a bad name for the Minister and threatening his dignity.
The complainant has filed a complaint under the Information Technology act, requesting strict action against the miscreants.
