Shimoga: Close on the heels of the BJP announcing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 elections, the KJP, have reportedly decided to come closer by retaining former CM B.S. Yeddyurappas son B.Y. Raghavendra as the Lok Sabha candidate for Shimoga.
Ironically, it was KJP which had ensured that former BJP state president K.S. Eshwarappa was pushed to third place in Shimoga in the recent Assembly polls.
But with Yeddyurappa set to return to his parent party, he might be given the responsibility of leading the BJP in Karnataka in the Lok Sabha polls. If this happens, there is a high probability of sitting Shimoga MP Raghavendra being fielded again.
There were reports that Yeddyurappa himself may contest from Shimoga. But his son will have to contest and win from Shikaripur if the former CM wins the parliament poll and vacates the seat. Yeddyurappa is not sure if his son will win after the shock defeat of the JD(S) in the Mandya and Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha bypolls.
