Belagavi: Opposition leader in Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa on Tuesday said Sangolli Rayanna Brigade would not be dissolved at any cost and it would strive hard for the welfare of other backward class communities in the state.
Participating in Sangolli Rayanna Brigade’s oath taking ceremony at Nandgad of Khanapur taluk in Belagavi district, Eshwarappa said the that Sangolli Rayanna Brigade would continue to exist till the other backward class communities in the state. It may be recalled BJP leaders, including the state unit president B S Yeddyurappa, have been issuing statements that Sangolli Rayanna Brigade has no connection with BJP and no BJP leader should attend the meetings organized by Sangolli Rayanna Brigade. Speaking with reporters on Monday at Belagavi, Yeddyurappa said the party would issue show-cause notices of disciplinary action to all office bearers participating in the programme and Eshwarappa was no exception. He said the BJP had been organising conferences of backward classes, Dalits, minorities and there was no need for party leaders or workers to associate with Sangolli Rayanna Brigade.
Participating in Sangolli Rayanna Brigade’s oath taking ceremony, Eshwarappa has made it clear that Sangolli Rayanna Brigade was established to ensure justice for the people of other backward class communities in the state. “The convention of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade will be organized at Kudalasangama on January 26. We expect more than one lakh people to attend the convention,’’ Eshwarappa said.
He said there was no confusion on Sangolli Rayanna Brigade and a detailed discussion was held with BJP national organising secretary Ramlal last night. “I have explained the objective of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade to Ramlal. I was not sure why BJP leaders advised me not to attend Sangolli Rayanna Brigade convention held at Tumkur. Now, I have not received any direction not to attend the meetings organized by Sangolli Rayanna Brigade. I am a disciplined RSS activist. Senior BJP leaders have spoken with me. I have explained to them. I am not compelling any BJP leader or activist to identify them with Sangolli Rayanna Brigade. Anyone can associate with Sangolli Rayanna Brigade,’’ he said.
