Madikeri: A statement that can come as a huge surprise or even as a shock, former MLC and senior advocate A K Subbaiah has said that the ones justifying the suicide of DySP M K Ganapathy are actually a threat to the society.
Pointing out that committing suicide is an objectionable crime, Subbaiah, in a press meet on Friday said that Ganapathy was suspended when the BJP was in power and if Minister George was harassing Ganapathy, the latter should have killed himself when the prior was holding one of the most powerful portfolios- the Home Ministry.
“In an interview, Ganapathy had told that he was happy after having been transferred to Mangaluru. His extreme step was driven by his mental condition,” said Subbaiah opining that the scenes unfurling after death of Ganapathy is nothing but glorification of suicides.
While slamming the ones who have been demanding registering of cases against the three named by Ganapathy, Subbaiah even went to the extent of stating that Pavana, wife of Ganapathy had no signs of pain on her face post her husband’s death.
He further said that since there are no evidences to prove the ‘harassment’ that Ganapathy has claimed in his last interview, filing FIR against George and two IPS officers too would amount to harassment and to avert some more suicides, it is better not to file the FIR.
Opining that Ganapathy, Chikkamagaluru DySP Kallappa Handibag, who too ended life two days before Ganapathy committed suicide were saffron members, Subbaiah went on to say that DySP Anupama Shenoy too hails from the same league.
“The Sangha Parivar is directly responsible for the suicides,” he said.
