Raichur: Three Hanuma Maladharis from Hegasanahalli village were killed on Tuesday near Shaktinagar in Raichur district. They were on their way on foot to fetch water from the Krishna River for religious rituals to perform Lord Hanuman as a part of Hanuma Jayanti.
The deceased have been identified as Ayyangowda (28), Udaykumar (28), and Mahesh (24). Two others were injured in the accident.
A Telangana-registered Bolero vehicle transporting chickens rammed into the Hanuma Maladharis. The villagers apprehended the driver, Madhusudhan Gouda, who attempted to flee the scene. He has been handed over to the Shakti Nagar police.
The injured were taken to RIMS Hospital in Raichur.
