Koppal: A pregnant woman and her unborn baby allegedly died due to alleged medical negligence, sparking protests by her relatives and villagers.
The incident occurred at the Community Health Centre, and the victim, identified as 20-year-old Laxmi Neminath from Vithalapura village in Kushtagi taluk of Koppal district. Laxmi experienced labor pains on Monday night and was admitted to the Government Community Health Center in Tavaragere village early on Tuesday.
However, despite medical intervention, she passed away due to complications, according to the doctor due to hypertension during childbirth on Tuesday evening, resulting in the loss of both mother and child. The family and villagers staged a protest, holding the doctor accountable for the loss, citing delays in necessary medical care as contributing factors.
The aggrieved family and concerned villagers gathered in front of the hospital to demand justice and accountability for the tragic incident. They alleged that timely medical attention could potentially have averted the devastating outcome. The protest ended after assurances from the Kushatagi Tahsildar and CPI that necessary action would be taken against the doctor.
