On Saturday, the Udupi jail near Hiriadka discovered the death of a murder suspect who was under trial. The deceased is 37-year-old Anup Shetty, who was on trial in July 2021 for the alleged murder of his business partner, Ajendra Shetty, in Kalavara village, Kundapur. After Ajendra was killed, Shetty fled, but a few days later, Udupi police in Goa captured him.
Shetty was discovered unresponsive in the jail on Saturday. He was sent to the hospital immediately, but the medical staff pronounced him dead. It is believed that heart arrest caused his death. For the precise cause of his unexpected death, the police are awaiting the postmortem report.
Financier Ajendra Shetty was killed on July 30, 2021, inside his Kalavara, Kundapur taluk, office by a knife, according to Shetty’s claims. When Ajendra failed to return home that evening, even after 11 p.m., the family members became suspicious and the occurrence was discovered. Ajendra was found unconscious in a pool of blood when they arrived at his office in a state of shock.
The deceased was brutally murdered, and the complainant, Mahendra Shetty, Ajendra’s brother, claimed Shetty was involved. Shetty had voiced his dissatisfaction in front of Ajendra multiple times due to disagreements with Ajendra over various business transactions.
Following Shetty’s unexplained death on Saturday in Udupi jail, the jurisdictional police of Hiriadka have filed a case under Section 176 of the CrPC. According to a complaint submitted by S A Shirol, the jailor, Shetty was taken into custody on August 6, 2021, as per a court order from Kundapur. Anup passed out at 2:45 pm on May 11 and thereafter lost consciousness. After bringing the issue to the jailor’s attention, a staff member named Nagaraj Kumashi made plans to transfer him to the district government hospital.
