In a tragic incident, a farmer was discovered dead in Mangaluru on Tuesday, with authorities suspecting it to be a case of suicide, as reported by the police.
The deceased has been identified as Shivanna Gowda (61), a resident of Budalur. According to family members, he purportedly took his own life by consuming poison, attributing his action to the alleged failure in repaying an agricultural loan.
Gowda had reportedly borrowed over Rs 10 lakh from a local cooperative farming society for agricultural purposes. The burden of repayment seemed to have taken a toll on him, leading to this drastic step.
Authorities have initiated a case and commenced investigations into the matter to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Gowda’s death
