Mangaluru: Tech aid sought for patrolling, crime detection

Karnataka Police have issued notice to 11 people for allegedly attempting to attack the accused jilted lover in the case of murder of four members of a family

Mangaluru: The Mobile Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (MCTNS) portable scanner has been effectively implemented in all Police Station limits under Dakshina Kannada. This technology has helped curb night crime, tracking offenders in an efficient manner.

Police state that the technology has already proven effective in the District. Due to this technology, police can collect suspects’ fingerprints apart from usual interrogation during night patrols. The biometric data with the help of sophisticated software finds matches in the database for quickly identifying persons with previous criminal antecedents if any.

The District police has further urged the public to co-operate in the process so that the technology becomes more effective.
