Puttur: Former National swimmer and present head coach of Puttur Aquatic Club and Mangalore Aquatic club, Partha Varanashi bagged five gold medals at the 13th National Masters Aquatic Championship. The aquatic meet was conducted by the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) in Secuderabad on 22nd October 2016.

As a sprinter, he clinched three gold medals in 50 meter backstroke, 50 meter butterfly and 50 meter freestyle. In the relay events, he won two gold medals in 4x 50 meter free style relay and 4×50 meter medley (all strokes) relay.
In the same event, Mangalorean Eye Doctor Ashuthosh Boloor swam to win a silver medal in 50 meter backstroke sprint with the timing of 34.64 seconds. Dr. Ashuthosh also bagged a gold in 4×50 meter medley relay.
Partha is the lease owner of Balawana Swimming pool in Puttur where he trains a team of 50 competitive swimmers who are giving their best at the National and International level. Vaishnav Hegde, the swimmer from Puttur who recently won gold while representing India in the South Asian Aquatic Championship held in Sri Lanka trains under Partha.
