Kolar: On Saturday night, thieves smashed into an ATM using a gasĀ cutter andĀ then made off with Rs. 14 lakhs in cash in Kolar, which is located 70 kilometers from Bengaluru.
With the use of a gas cutter, the criminals broke into the Canara Bank ATM located at Hanchal Gate in the Kolar district’s Bangarapet taluk. The ATM had about Rs 15 lakhs available. The information on the stolen money was provided by the bank workers. KGF DySP Ramesh, the dog squad, and fingerprint specialists looked out the location.
DySP Ramesh discovered that there was no CCTV in the commercial store building and gave the Bangarapet police instructions to issue a warning to the owner under the Public Safety Act. At 11 o’clock in the evening, the criminals attacked a man with a machete and took Rs. 5,000 from a man who was leaving the ATM after withdrawing cash.
Recently, thieves took thousands of rupees from ATMs in Chintamani and Kolar. The Bangarapet police have opened an investigation and filed a case.
