Ramanagara :Women of the town no longer need to go to the river or lake to wash their clothes. It is planned to install laundry kiosks in public places for women to wash clothes in Ramanagara, following the model of China and Indonesia. MLA Iqbal Hussain has made an announcement about this.
In rural areas, women usually go to river banks or lakes to wash clothes. In many places, there have been incidents of people going to wash their clothes and drowning in the water. Thus, Ramanagara MLA Iqbal Hussain has decided to install washing machines in public places to facilitate women.
Such a system is in force in most developed countries. MLA Hussain is thinking of implementing the same system in Ramanagara and has identified some areas in and around Aijoor circle. Initially, 10 laundry kiosks will be installed. MP DK Suresh will also be involved in the implementation of the scheme.
A washing machine is being installed in a few days. MLA Iqbal Hussain said that if he could not get MLA’s grant, he will implement it from his own pocket. Each kiosk would be established at an estimated cost of Rs 35 lakh rupees and a total of 10 kiosks will be established. This project is likely to cost an estimated Rs three crores. A display is installed to watch cartoons to entertain the children who come with their mothers to the washing machine stations. A 10/10 display is placed next to the washing machine at each center.
Initially, 10 public laundry kiosks will be installed. Initially, these centers will be started in a rented building. After the Lok Sabha elections, they will construct their own building and install washing machines there. Each center is staffed. As the elections are around the corner, no name has been given to this project. It is decided to name the project after the elections.
