Ramanagara: A scuffle broke out between local villagers and the members of Ravishankar Guruji Ashram over the construction of a compound and damaged a bike and cars belonging to the ashram under Kaggalipura Police Station limits on Tuesday May 2.
Seven bikes belonging to Ravi Shankar Guruji Ashram were completely gutted in the incident, while five bikes and four cars were damaged. The glass panes of the security room of the ashram were shattered, creating tension in the area.
There was a dispute over 36 guntas of land between Ravishankar Guruji’s Art of Living near Vaderahalli in Bengaluru South Taluk and local villagers. When the ashram staff tried to build a compound on the land, angry villagers created a ruckus and set fire to vehicles in the premises of the ashram.
Tension prevailed at the spot following the incident and senior police officials, including the District Superintendent of Police, were camping at the spot. A complaint at Ramanagara Police Station has been registered.
