Mangalore: “The district is facing several welfare issues. Still the State government has time to ponder over the alleged injustice done due to the ANF killing, but no time to redress the problems of the district”, said Dakshina Kannada BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak.
He was addressing press persons in the city on Thursday April 24.

Water Issues
During the last year’s Zilla Panchayat session around 28 problems were brought into notice however this year, the issues are doubled as around 42 issues were highlighted, said Nayak.
He said several places in Mangalore, Konaje, Ullal and other faces are facing water problem. He also said that there are various gram panchayats where the only way of supplying water is through tankers as there are no pipelines and the bore well are rendered useless. He alleged that lately they were complaints that proper bills were not submitted for the water tankers.
Farmers’ woes
Farmers in various rural areas especially in the place around Belthangady are facing problems. Losses to the tune of several lakhs of rupees has been incurred by farmers engaged in Banana plantation, Rubber plantation, arecanut farmers and others. Still, the government is least bothered, alleged Pratap Simha Nayak.
There is an urgent need of water reservoirs as the rains are expected anytime, he added.
Electricity concerns
With reference to electricity, the hike by the MESCOM has created a great concern among the people of the district, said Pratap Simha Nayak.
Allegations
Pratap Simha Nayak said that the State government and the ruling Congress have completely overlooked these important concerns. Instead, they have been highlighting the ANF killing just to gain political benefits and create communal tiffs, he alleged.
Moreover he also alleged that the Congress was hell bent upon proving that Kabeer was innocent even before the CID completed its probe.
