A fire erupted around 7:45 pm on Sunday at two adjoining buildings in Chinar Park, housing four restaurants. Despite the intensity of the blaze, all customers and staff were safely evacuated, with no reported injuries. Unfortunately, two of the restaurants suffered extensive damage.
It took four fire engines approximately an hour to extinguish the flames. While one confectionery and a restaurant in one of the buildings were partially gutted, the other two establishments were completely destroyed.
The fire incident caused significant disruption to traffic between City Centre II and the airport for nearly two hours. Police reported that at least two of the restaurants were at full capacity due to the Bengali New Year crowd.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from one of the kitchens, although the exact cause is yet to be determined.
Authorities are conducting further inquiries to ascertain the extent of the damage and to prevent such incidents in the future.
