Kanpur: Tragedy unfolded during religious play in Kanpur, a 14-year old boy allegedly slit the throat of an another minor while portraying Goddess Kali.
The incident happened on Wednesday in Bhambhiyapur village.The incident occurred during a Bhagwat Katha event at Subhash Saini’s residence in the village, Bilhaur area. As part of the program, children were enacting various characters from the Katha. Unfortunately, during the enactment, the child portraying Goddess Kali stuck the neck of another child, playing a ‘demon,’ with a knife.
Despite immediate medical attention, the injured child succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. Villagers reported that the boy playing Goddess Kali was supposed to use a trident for the mock-slaying but resorted to a sharp knife when unable to find one.
DCP Vijay Dhull confirmed that an FIR has been lodged based on the complaint of parents of deceased boy. An investigation into this incident has been launched and accused were produced before Juvenile Court for further legal proceedings.
